Artwork

“Art has always been a large part of my life. I started drawing at a young age and continued developing my artistic abilities during my undergraduate education. Through figure drawing and anatomical drawing classes at the University of Dayton I began to realize that art allowed me to view the human body in a unique way.

What began as a hobby and a relaxing diversion soon became a tool to help me learn anatomical relationships in Medical school. My drawings of anatomy led to numerous medical illustrations in scientific journals and eventually textbooks. When deciding on a career in Surgery, I felt that Plastic Surgery was the perfect specialty to combine my love for art and passion for Surgery.

I feel that an artist has a unique perspective and can better visualize how a procedure will enhance a person’s appearance. The human body is already a beautiful work of art and plastic surgery only enhances that beauty. I have the skills of a trained surgeon, but see things with the eyes of an artist.

That is why I feel that Plastic Surgery is an art, and who better to perform Plastic Surgery than an artist.”
