Why Do People Get A Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a surgical solution to achieve fuller, rounder, better-projected buttocks. Popularized by many A-list stars on social media, a Brazilian Butt Lift uses organic fat tissue from various donor areas around the body to bolster gluteal curves– creating a more defined hourglass shape.

Women turn to a BBL to enhance their figure, fit better in their clothes, and diminish any areas of unwanted fat around their body. Here at The Art of Plastic Surgery, we specialize in giving women the curves that make them feel confidently sexy. If you want to learn more about how a BBL can enhance your silhouette, please feel free to schedule a consultation with Dr. Fedele at our Cleveland office or call us at (216) 464-1616 today!

Why A BBL?

Through its ever-growing popularity, the BBL is looked at by some as the new frontier of plastic surgery. Since 2014, there’s been an almost 40% increase in the number of annual BBL procedures.[1] Perhaps this is because of influencers, actresses, and celebrity personalities touting their bodacious results on social media. Or, more likely, it is due to the fact that more surgeons are acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary to perfect this procedure in their practices.  But does a rounder, fuller buttocks make someone more attractive? Researchers might agree that it does. In three different studies, researchers acknowledged that there are four common gluteal shapes: round, V-shaped, upside-down heart, and square. By analyzing each shape and the subject’s waist-to-hip ratio, researchers concluded, in all three studies, that the most ideal and attractive buttocks was one that was an upside-down heart shape with a waist-to-hip ratio of 0.7.[2] These naturally rare measurements belonged to women who had an hourglass-shaped profile. However, the majority of women don’t have this gluteal profile. But, many patients have achieved just that with Dr. Fedele’s state-of-the-art approach to a BBL.

For The Benefits?

Patients choose a BBL because of its:

Natural Results

During a BBL procedure, a patient’s fat tissue will be extracted from the abdomen, thighs, or flanks through liposuction. Then, the fat cells are rinsed and purified, readying them for re-entry. Next, a trained surgeon like Dr. Fedele injects the donor fat cells into the buttocks, causing the area to expand. This process of relocating fat cells from one area to another is called fat grafting. Many say that the body responds better to its own natural fat as opposed to implants because there is no chance of having an allergic reaction to your own organic fat tissue. Once he has injected the fat back into your body, Dr. Fedele will massage the overlying tissue, ensuring the relocated fat cells are evenly contoured. This process will promote the “lifted” look that has made the procedure so famous.

Slimmer Waist, Bigger Hips

As we age, our bodies tend to store more fat in various parts. This fat may reside in the thighs, the arms, the stomach, or even around our face and neck. But this stubborn fat may be difficult to address through diet and exercise alone. However, with a Brazilian Butt Lift you can lose fat in those areas instantly! By taking fat from areas like the abdomen and love handles, Dr. Fedele can erase unwanted curves from trouble spots around your physique. Studies have shown that body fat from the donor sites becomes more aesthetically appealing after a transformative BBL surgery.[2]

Long-Lasting Results

Unlike implants, with a BBL you receive that same fat cell but in a more sculpted and desired shape. With a BBL, the relocated fat cells will respond to changes in diet and exercise like real fat cells. To maintain results, you will need to remain at the weight you were during your procedure. However, as we age, we may gain or lose a couple of pounds. Because a BBL utilizes your organic fat cells, you will be able to see your lifted butt adjust naturally to these changes in weight. But, it should be noted, if too much weight is gained or lost after your procedure, your BBL results will greatly diminish.

Candidates

Candidates for a BBL are usually people who are at a healthy weight with enough excess body fat around their body that can be used to inject into the buttocks area by Dr. Fedele. Also, patients will be asked to be at a healthy, stable weight. This requirement is important because a BBL should not be seen as a weight loss surgery but rather a body contouring procedure. If the patient has a history of major weight fluctuations, this may hurt their chances of being approved for a BBL. If, however, you are on the skinnier side, Dr. Fedele may ask you to gain a little extra fat so he uses these cells during your BBL.

Personal Consultation

At your personal consultation, we will begin with a brief physical examination and a new patient intake interview. Then, Dr. Fedele will note if you have undergone any similar procedures in the past and work to understand how your body responded to treatment. He will then open the floor up to you. We try to keep our consultations a dialogue instead of a monologue, so please don’t hesitate to ask questions or tell us about your desired results. With your ideal aesthetic in mind, Dr. Fedele will examine your curves, noting good donor areas to relocate unwanted fatty tissue from. After this step, he will configure a personalized action plan on how to best achieve your desired result using the fat tissue you have now. Before you leave, we will give you a list of preparatory steps that should be completed or abided by between these two appointments.

To prepare for your BBL, it is best to:

  • Avoid smoking as nicotine is known to constrict blood vessels and hamper the body’s natural healing processes.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Ready your home for your arrival and recovery. After your BBL you will not be able to sit or apply pressure to your backside, so be sure to make your home compatible.
  • Designate a caregiver to drive you home and look after you for the first couple of days
  • Fill all necessary prescriptions

Procedure

During your BBL, you will first be given general anesthesia. Then, Dr. Fedele will liposuction the fat from the agreed upon areas. Next, he will purify and rinse the fat cells so there is no chance of contamination on re-entry. Once he has cleansed the fatty tissue, he will safely and carefully inject it into the buttocks. After this, he will smooth out the area to ensure an even, contoured, and lift appearance.

Why Do People Get A BBL?

To truly answer the question of “Why do people get a Brazilian Butt Lift?” is simply: through a safe, effective procedure, patients receive natural, beautiful, and long-lasting results! After you’ve gone through the recovery period, you will begin to see just what all the buzz is about surrounding this rising procedure. The results look natural, contoured, and defined. In dresses, your hips look incredible. In pants, your butt will look amazing.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

There are many different procedures that can be used to help accentuate your BBL. Here at The Art of Plastic Surgery, we love helping people discover their aesthetic goals. Some complementary procedures are:

Tummy Tuck

Otherwise known as an abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck is the perfect solution to alleviate stubborn, loose fat and skin tissue around the abdomen. It works by tightening the skin around the abdominal wall and correcting any separation in the abdominal muscles, leaving you with a flatter, more toned belly that is perfect for the summer weather.

Face Lift

Sagging skin around the face may make you come across as tired, elderly, or unhappy. But you feel so young inside – why can’t your outside reflect your inside? Well, with Dr. Fedele’s approach to the facelift allows you to say goodbye to unwanted sagging skin around the face. No more will people ask you if you’re tired, or is everything alright, or why do you look so unhappy? Now, they will just ask you how you look so much younger. The Art of Plastic Surgery is how.

Cost

Because everyone’s body is different, the price for a BBL will vary. The price of this treatment will depend on the resources and services utilized to achieve your desired appearance and how many donor areas were treated with liposuction. If you would like to learn more about our pricing or want to learn about our referral rewards program, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at (216) 464-1616.
