The art of plastic sugery

Tummy Tuck

If your stomach is not as flat as you want it despite regular exercise, or if weight loss or pregnancy has stretched your skin out of shape, an abdominoplasty may be just what you need. Excess skin is removed and loose abdominal muscles are tightened giving you a flatter, smoother appearing stomach. Dr. Fedele performs an abdominoplasty to remove excess fatty tissue and skin in the lower abdomen giving you a shapelier mid drift while tightening the waist “repairing” the damage done by pregnancy or excessive weight loss.

Because there are different degrees of excess skin and fat, Dr. Fedele offers a variety of procedures to contour the abdomen. When you have no excess skin but want to get rid of the fat, then liposuction alone can remove unwanted fatty deposits. When there is a combination of fat and some mild skin excess, then a “mini” abdominoplasty may be your best option to flatten your stomach. If there is moderate to severe skin excess then a full abdominoplasty would give the best results. Whatever your needs are, Dr Fedele will assess your abdomen during your initial consultation and give you the option that best fits your individual needs.

The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient at an ambulatory surgical center. The procedure can take between two to three hours and you will be discharged home when stable. The incisions are placed at or near the bikini line and around the belly button to keep them well hidden and they will fade with time. You will wear a compression garment for four weeks to help control swelling and bruising and support your stomach through the healing process.

All surgical procedures carry risks and Dr. Fedele will spend time with you at your consultation to explain the procedure in detail and any risks involved. This website is designed to give you some basic information about an abdominoplasty and is not a substitute for a comprehensive consultation and exam with Dr. Fedele.
