Rhinoplasty can enhance the shape and appearance of your nose, by removing a prominent hump or defining the nasal tip giving you better balance to your face. Dr. Fedele uses digital computer imaging to review your photos and what changes can be made to your nose. By using this interactive tool Dr. Fedele becomes more aware of the changes that you would like to have made to your nose and then you can visualize how these changes will look on you. Dr. Fedele performs Rhinoplasty surgery to improve the look of your nose giving you a natural more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient at an ambulatory surgery center. The procedure takes about two to three hours and you will spend about one to two hours in the recovery room. The first three to four days is the most uncomfortable, but Dr. Fedele will prescribe pain medication to control the discomfort. You will wear a nasal splint for one week and will likely have bruising around the eyes. The splint is removed in the first week and most people return to work in seven to ten days.
If you are experiencing difficulty with breathing through your nose, Dr. Fedele can help by opening your nasal passages allowing more air flow. Whether due to a previous nasal injury or just a naturally blocked passage, most insurance companies will cover surgery relating to opening the obstructed nasal airway.
When we talk about achieving a balance to your face with Rhinoplasty, sometimes this involves enhancing the chin. Some people who feel their nose is projecting too far out from their face may have a small or “weak” chin. When viewed from a profile, the nose and chin are out of balance. Corrective Rhinoplasty to enhance the nose may be combined with a chin augmentation using an implant. The result is a much stronger more balanced appearing profile.
All surgical procedures carry risks and Dr. Fedele will spend time with you at your consultation to explain the procedure in detail and any risks involved.
